A message for all.......
The journey is not easy, but together we stand.
My name is Brook Oliver. I am here to help people understand civil rights and how they protect us within employment.
I am an award winning broadcast professional for more than 13 years that is fighting alongside countless others to have their civil rights in the workplace upheld. I stand up alongside countless others daily fighting for workplaces free from abuses against gender, age, sex, sexual orientation, religion, diability (physical and mental duress), ethnicity, status and more. We have these rights on the federal books and must protect our freedoms to work in an environment free from them and free of retaliation from bring forth claims with regards to these civil rights.
I have accomplished a lot within my career and in my personal life. Often times we find ourselves unlawfully attacked and hurt professionally, finacially and emotionally in the workplace. Hostile free working environment free of discrimination, harassment and retaliation are guaranteed under Title VII of the United States Civil Rights Amendment. This is NOT a luxary a company affords. IT'S THE LAW.
My journey gets to the very heart and soul of this last statement. I too, like many others have been wronged and seek amends for those injustices from a former employer. The road to justice is long and arduous. Believe me, my journey continues after almost a year and 3 months. In the end, I know the facts will prevail for me and the countless others still at my former employer.
I send a message to everyone out there suffering at the hands of someone within their employment. Stay strong. Document. Report. Be willing to stand up and fight back legally.
It has been over a year now and I am fighting back even still. A lot of good people and evidence have been presented and come forth. I am blessed to have this in place. I am blessed with a supportive family and group of friends. I am also blessed to have found my way to continue my career while fighting back for labor justice.
I am here to help people understand and to support.
Best to everyone as you embark on your journeys. Check back often for more tip and helpful links.

In the process, employers charged will attempt to intimidate, harass and often times threaten you in attempts to make you give up the process. Do not let them win in this respect. In the end, it is not up to them how much you recover in damages, but its is actually up to a judge and jury of working class citizens in a federal labor court. If they refuse settlement talks, let them. In the end it demonstrates badly on their part. You hold all the cards. They know it and they hate it. You have the power.
